Let me give you a bit of what I’ve been up to… just one scene from a script… lol 😀
From my “Valerex: The Same King”
(Whispers to Callivera)
My Lady, talk first, talk.
You, General Lynx in particular, have failed to realise that this family has carried the curse of the land for generations. The killing of the witches of Azim brought this curse upon us and we’ve been kind enough to bear it alone.
That was many centuries ago. The lineage has been… “baptised”
By whom? A man who brought a new religion or just a bloody book of Poems and stories on how we should glorify our king (points at Maxwell). Blood is thicker than water; you can’t purge or dilute a lineage by soaking their bodies in a pool of water.
The people begin to filter in.
But surely you are not like them, it means you did not choose that path.
Choose? Who said they chose it? I have watched you slay my father, my husband, my brother and believe me, you will not have my son. That trick of yours won’t work today.
Callivera remembers images of the death of Rexuel
Tell us again, Lynx, tell us how you killed my own brother. (Her voice begins to break). From on high you sent fire, sent it down into his bones. You spread a net for his feet and turned him back. You made him desolate and faint all day long.
Yes, still, your son is yet another werewolf… a foolish one at that.
You’ve declared yourself an enemy to this house, surely you did so long ago. And if an enemy were to insult me, I would endure it, but to talk sour against my Lord, your King, I must put you to shame!
(Squats and looks fiercely at Maxwell; Dera is still holding unto to her)
Maxwell my Lord, let death take our enemies by surprise
(hits her fist on the ground)
Let them go down alive to the grave if they refuse to die
(hits her fist on the ground again).
(points at the crowd)
are united in this.
VOICES FROM THE CROWD
Kill him! KILL HIM!!
Callivera’s door guards are still looking terrified.
(Stands to her feet)
AND WHO WILL BE THE NEW KING? HIM? (Points at General Lynx) A plot he has been nursing all along! To put this land into chaos. Confine Maxwell until he gives us an heir.
You know that cannot be achieved. We cannot confine a demon.
HE’S NOT A DEMON! AND NO MAN SHALL LAY A FINGER ON MY SON!
The archers draw their silver arrows across their bows as the other men pull the ropes in an attempt to get Maxwell to his feet.
We must do what has to be done. Don’t be afraid of her… she can’t stop us. Even if she’s a werewolf too, the next moon is so faraway.
Maxwell refuses to stand; the rope to his neck is strangling him.
You belittle me, Lynx.
(Pushes off Dera)
Let me go! No one touches my son!
Callivera runs off towards Lynx who stands his ground giggling and looking at other Generals. One of Callivera’s door guards shoots an arrow towards Callivera but she bends away from it. Lynx and rest of the men bend too and arrow misses everyone.
Hold your arrows!
SHE’LL KILL YOU!
Lynx finds the warning amusing but his smile begins to fade when he sees Callivera spin in the air — She had scooped the air with her right hand, the force of which lifted her off the ground, diving for the chest of Lynx. She spins a full circle and we notice her eyes close and open gracefully before she crashes her palms strongly unto the chest of the defenceless Lynx. Lynx falls to the ground and coughs out blood with Callivera sitting over him as a lion would hold down its prey.
(Whispers quickly to Lynx)
I told you so; when next I come close to you, you’ll be a dead man.
(Looks sternly at the Palace guards)
DEFEND YOUR KING!
The Palace guards draw their swords and the people begin to flee immediately. There is dust and noise and heavy confusion among the Generals’ army; they are trying to see if Lynx is still alive…
Let me stop here 🙂 Lynx died though, due to his inability to listen to warnings. That door guard that shot at Callivera had seen her earlier pull down her room door and jump an entire staircase without stepping on the steps; he became aware that she’s more powerful than she appears to be.
